Dear Praying Friends,
It is quite different to be writing a prayer letter from the mission
field! One thing is not different, that is the Lord's blessing of our
efforts. We are very pleased and excited to be working here in Surrey at
Park City Baptist Church.
God has been so good to us and met our needs in the move and set up here.
Our truck arrived two days early on Monday, February 10. The same day,
we bought a car from the auto auction. We praise the Lord everything has
worked out smoothly and things are beginning to fall into place. There
are several things we already knew about this part of Canada which did
not mean much until we started living here. Sales tax is 14.5% and
gasoline is almost $4/gallon! The weekly weather cycle is rain,
sprinkles, mist, and liquid sunshine. Lastly, many, many people live
here, but no one is from here!
During the four weeks we have been here, the Lord has enabled us to make
contacts with different ones who could use your prayer. I had never had
part in a funeral, but 2 weeks ago I assisted Pastor Arbo in the funeral
for Mr. Lamech, who is from India. Many of his family members live in
the area and need Jesus. Steven and Efoma are a young Nigerian couple I
met while soulwinning. I witnessed to Steven two weeks ago, but there
were many distractions at the door. When I returned a few days later,
Efoma came to the door and mentioned to me the church they sometimes
attend. They both need to be witnessed to and come to a Bible believing
church. In the same complex I met a middle aged lady and her teenage
daughter. She said they plan to visit the church. While soulwinning
last week with Bro. Andrew (the pastor's son) we were able to see two
teen boys trust Christ. Tony was the first one who got saved; then I was
able to lead Ali to the Lord a bit later. Ali is a fifteen year old from
the Middle East area. Also, on the same day, Donna and Miss Renee met a
young couple who is interested in coming. Please pray for Wendell, who
trusted Christ in the Sunday morning service and came back for the
evening service. The Kovaks are a family from Eastern Europe who were
saved at PCBC seven years ago, but haven't been to church in five years.
They came Sunday morning AND Sunday night! Thank you for praying for
these folks and for the ministry here.
In Christ,
David J. Crews
